Narendra modi movie

Rating- 2 out of 5 stars

The biographical drama movie of our prime minister, PM Narendra Modi, released at the most engaging time as the Modi- led BJP made history with its iconic win at Lok Sabha elections 2019. However, the movie will find it extremely hard to replicate the success of PM Modi at the box office.

With Vivek Oberoi leading the movie by playing the character of Narendra Movie in his biopic, it is directed by Sarbjit and Mary Kom famed director Omung Kumar. The movie is produced by Vivek Oberoi’s father Suresh Oberoi alongside Sandip Ssingh and Anand Pandit.

Story:

The movie revolves around the life of Narendra Modi and depicts his journey from a Chaiwala selling tea in train compartments to becoming the Prime Minister of the government of India. The movie showcases his struggles against the opposing party, his devotion to serving his people and his triumph at the conclusion. The movie also includes fictional events that never happened in his life to make him more ‘greatful’, as spelled in the opening acknowledgment.

Performances:

If there was only one reason we could state for the poor review of this movie then it would be the hideous acting of the lead actor, Vivek Oberoi. Vivek had a great opportunity to make a comeback owing to the victory of Narendra Modi at the Lok Sabha elections but he failed to get into the skin of the larger than life character. His appearance as Narendra Modi was laughed at even before the movie release and he proved in the movie that the people were right. However other actors like Zarina Wahab (portraying Modi’s mother, Heeraben Modi), Boman Irani (portraying Ratan Tata) and Kishori Shahane (portraying Indira Gandhi) proved their acting potential and did justice to their characters.

Direction:

With critically and commercially acclaimed movies like Mary Kom and Sarabjit in his Kitty, there were much higher expectations from the director Omung Kumar. However, he failed to pull out a masterpiece from one of the most sought after storyline. PM Narendra Modi fails to keep the audience glued to the screens.

Sound Tracks:

Considering the plot, nothing much could be expected from this part as the movie was a biopic of our prime minister. However, Hitesh Modak, Shashi-Khushi, and A. R. Rehman didn’t fail to bring goosebumps at some moments.

Overall Verdict:

PM Narendra Modi could have delivered a great viewing experience to the audience, especially after the Lok Sabha election results in the favor of Narendra Modi. However, it is nowhere close to a masterpiece and fails to attract a positive word of mouth. The poor performance of the movie is not one’s fault as everyone is equally responsible for the fall.
