Monday: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh the self-declared spiritual guru has been found guilty of the rape case against 2 Sadhvis. The case came up to light in2002 and was under trial since 2008.He was arrested and is found guilty on Friday and will be sentenced on Monday.
A lot of chaos and tension has been created since then, his followers wept and fainted while waiting for the verdict, but soon after the verdict, the followers who were lakhs in number pelleted stones and broke the brigade, the city of Panchkula is now burning in fire. To control the crowd the police have shed tear gas shells and have used the water cannons and batons. Sector 2 and 5 of Panchkula have more impact of stress there. Many vehicles of media and police have been put under fire. In spite the government claiming that they have made adequate arrangement for any adverse condition, in the latest update 11have been dead till now, and Panchkula is slowly turning into Srinagar.
As per the government, three stadium had been prepared by the mas make shift jails if crowd turns violent. The school and colleges have been closed and the several trains travelling from Punjab and Haryana have been cancelled. The mobile services have been blocked indefinitely in Haryana and Panchkula is under curfew.
50 yr old Dera chief is also known as ‘Guru of bling’ and has also starred in two movies “messenger of god” and its sequel. Charges on the Dera chief date back to 2002 when one of his sadhvis wrote an anonymous letter to the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee claiming that she had been raped by the Dera chief, she also claimed that several other women have been continuously been raped by the Ram Rahim at his Sirsa headquarter at the outskirts of Haryana. The case was handed over to the CBI who questioned 18 Sadhvis out of which 2 confirmed the allegations on the Dera Chief.
The trial against Gurmeet Ram Rahim began in 2008 and on September 6, 2008, he was charged under Section 376 (rape) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. TheDera Chief claims the allegations to be False and said he is incapable of engaging in any physical relationship. After he was found guilty he has been taken to the Western Command Headquarters in Chandimandir from where he will fly to either the Rothak Jail or to Gurugram.
Apart from this Gurmeet Ram Rahim is also facing trial in two separate murder cases – one of the Dera follower Ranjit Singh in July 2002 and second of journalist Ram Chander Chattrapati in October that same year.
The Khattar government’s claims of being prepared are falling flat as this riot is quickly spreading in the states like Delhi, Punjab Haryana, Rajasthan and certain areas of UP. Another news claims that a train has been set on fire at the Anand Vihar railway station. The home minister Rajnath Singh is in talks with the chief minister and is about to brief the situation to the Prime Minister.
