The union ministry of India gave a Letter Of Intent to the 7 shortlisted companies to adopt 14 monuments of India under “ADOPT A HERITAGE SITE SCHEME”. This marked the closing ceremony of “Paryatan Parv”, held in New Delhi.

These shortlisted companies would sign for the pride of these 14 monuments by their respective Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activities.

These companies were picked out by the Inter-Ministerial Oversight and Vision Committee of Ministry following the scrutinizing of the 57 responses ranging from the hospitality industry, travel industry and banking industry for adopting the monuments under the Adopt a Heritage Scheme.

This scheme was witnessed to be launched on 27th September on the occasion of World tourism day. This motive was taken to enhance the tourism by various CSR activities held by the corporate, private or public sector companies, whosoever chosen as their care takers so as to improve its sustainable tourism and development of the same.

This scheme was launched by Tourism Ministry in close collaboration with Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), its main focus being the development and improvement of these monuments, thus triggering an enhanced tourism to these sites. All the necessary activities are believed to be properly carried out in a planned and phased manner if the responsibilities are divided among various companies.

The project primarily focuses on development and maintenance of world-class tourist infrastructure and amenities including basic civic amenities and advanced ones like cleanliness, secure environment, public convenience and satisfaction, ease of access, radiance and night viewing facilities for inclusive tourist experience to increase both domestic and foreign tourists footfall.
