Ness Wadia is a UK born Indian business tycoon who hails from Parsi family. He is a prominent face in Indian business circle and scion of one of the India’s most wealthy families. He is the son of Nusli Wadia and former air hostess Maureen Wadia born on 30 May 1971 in Liverpool, U.K. Another intriguing fact is that he is supposed to be the great grandson of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and thus making him the heir of Jinnah. He was the Joint Manager Director of Bombay Dyeing till March 2011 when is stepped down from the role. He also is the co-owner of cash rich Indian Premier League team kings Xi Punjab.

Currently Wadia serves as director on the boards of group companies- Britannia Industries Ltd., Wadia BSN Ltd., and Nowrosjee Wadia & Sons Ltd. He is also a director of Gherzi Eastern Ltd., Tata Iron & Steel, Tata Chemicals, and various other companies. Back in 2009 Ness Wadia was linked to Preity ZInta, the couple hogged the limelight when were frequently seen during Ipl fixtures. The couple however parted away after a while when Zinta allegedly lodged a complaint against him for assaulting her to which Wadia denied such allegations.

Ness hasn’t been in news for bad precedents however in March he was caught in New Chitose Airport in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido with 25 grams of cannabis resin. The customs officials  deployed at New Chitose were alerted by sniffer dogs and a search revealed that Wadia had about 25g of what appeared to be traces of cannabis resin in his trouser pocket. Based on unconfirmed reports Wadia has admitted for possession of drugs and pleaded guilty.

Though he argued that it was for personal use.Wadia spent a small period in detention prior to his Indictment on March 20th for an unknown period of detention before a court hearing. The Sapporo District Court sentenced him a two-year imprisonment, which was suspended for five years. Japan’s narcotics are stringent and follow zero tolerance towards banned substances. Ness Wadia has left Japan and is stated to be back in India.

The judgment is clear it is a suspended sentence, hence it won’t impact Ness Wadia in the discharge of any of his responsibilities
