Indian Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri has done a great job in his tenure. It’s a shame that India couldn’t win the ICC World Cup 2019 but you cannot deny the fact that Ravi Shastri did work really hard in his time as a player and today as the Indian Coach. However, his tenure has ended as the Indian coach but he will stay with the Indian team for the upcoming West Indies tour. To become the coach again, he will have to reapply to be in contention for the position.

A cricket advisory committee (CAC) was established on Friday the main objective of which is to select India’s new head coach. The committee is led by Indian cricketing legend and former world cup winning captain Kapil Dev. Interviews for the position will begin in mid-August. Committee of Administrators(CoA) arrived at this decision during a meeting.

Aside from KapilDev, other notable members in the cricket advisory committee include ShanthaRangaswamy (former captain of the women’s team) and AnshumanGaekwad (former men’s coach). The CAC will dissolve after the appointment of the next Indian coach.

D.K. Jain (Ethics Officer), Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA), KapilDev, and ShanthaRangaswamywill decide whether their roles are conflicted or not. They will pick the men’s coach in mid-August. All this information was given by VinodRai, chief of the Committee of Administrators.

Neither Virat Kohli nor any other Indian player will have any opinion about the selection. The CAC now formed is an ad-hoc one. The BCCI constitution mandates that the CAC can only be established at the BCCI AGM. The AGM is set to take place on 22nd October 2019. Ad-hoc CAC committee comprising of KapilDev and ShanthaRangaswamy doesn’t disobey any laws. This CAC will dissolve after the selection of the Indian coach.

These are the same people that appointed the women’s coach. The move divided the COA into groups and Diana Edulji called the move unconstitutional. She hasn’t made any comment about the current happenings in the Indian cricket yet. Ravi Shastri will coach India for the upcoming West-Indies tour. The last date to reapply for the contention of the position of the head coach is 30th July.

A conflict of interest case is pending involving original CAC members VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly. They are performing multiple cricketing roles at the same time. They have been asked to select and stick to one. The old CAC comprised of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly. They were dysfunctional as a result of which an ad-hoc CAC led by KapilDev was appointed to select the Indian coach.
