As busy with his upcoming third installment of Dabangg the producer Arbaaz Khan, who himself will play the role of Makkhi Chand Pandey in the film recently revealed that Salman Khan was the second choice for the face of ChulbulPandey. The film came up in 2010 by AbhinavKashyap with its sequel Dabangg 2 (2012) and currently under direction by Prabhudeva, the third installment of the action-packed film is sought to be released on 20th December 2019.
Releasing under the banners of Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan Productions, the film is written by Dilip Shukla with the setting of the story in Madhya Pradesh. It was announced in 2013 itself that Dabangg 3 will be a prequel. As confirmed by Arbaaz Khan “Dabangg 3 will not be about the story being carried forward but something very different coming in the way.” The film production was also postponed due to the shooting of the Sultan. Later, Kajol was offered a role in the film playing her part as an antagonist but she refused, saying that her character is not as strong as Salman Khan and might not match with the criteria. The shooting began on 31st March 2019 when Salman and Arbaaz arrived at Indore and revealed the film’s first posters with its release date confirmed to be 20th December 2019, on 26 April 2019. The film score composition task was handed over to SandeepShirodkar whereas the songs were composed by Sajid-Wajid. Mahie Gill will also reprise her role from the previous film.
The heartbreaking news for its fans was announced by Arbaaz Khan in his interview with Mumbai Mirror. Arbaaz said that when Abhinav narrated the script to him he questioned him of why he wasn’t considered for the role of Robin Hood cop too which Abhinav replied that extending his role from Jane Tu… Jaane Na, he seemed to fit better with the role of Makkhi. The things quickly fell in place when Arbaaz offered to produce the film and suggested Salman Khan for the lead role as till the time Randeep Hooda and Irrfan Khan were shortlisted but none was finalized. Abhinav was very excited to work with Salman.
While Sonakshi Sinha continues to be the better half of Chulbul Pandey as Rajjo, Sanjay Manjrekar will be playing the role of his love interest in ground scenes. Arbaaz says that they have seen Saree working earlier and says “she is exactly what we wanted for Dabangg 3” as she will fit the role of an innocent young girl. 60% of the film will be wrapped up by the end of September.
In the meantime, Arbaaz Khan is also working with Priya Prakash Varrier for his film ‘Shridevi Bungalow’ which is currently facing controversies as the fans are angered by the similarity of the plot with the death of legendary actress Shridevi.
